本課程涵蓋天文物理學的基本知識,內容包含太陽系,恆星,星系,到整個宇宙。我們會從熟悉的地球開始,介紹早期對於天體運動的觀測,以及天文測量的基本概念和最新的現代望遠鏡。接下來探索太陽系,鄰近的行星,以及其他遙遠的恆星和太陽系外行星。接著增大我們的尺度到銀河系以及其他遙遠的星系和黑洞。最後我們由簡單的宇宙學角度談論我們的世界。基本數學物理能力有助於了解本課程,然而不需要太多基礎知識,有興趣的同學歡迎一起來探討我們的宇宙。
This course is an introductory course in modern astronomy and astrophysics. It covers broad subjects from solar system, stars, galaxies, to the whole universe. The goal is to provide basic knowledge for students who are interested in the field of modern astronomy. The course starts with our familiar surroundings on Earth and early observations based on the motion of the sky. Basic tools and telescopes in modern astronomy will be also introduced. We will move to our neighbors to know our sun, nearby planets, and the whole solar system. The basic properties of stars and extrasolar planets will be also discussed. Then we will enlarge the scale to Milky Way and move further to distant galaxies. A brief introduction about the properties of galaxies and black hole will be mentioned. In the end, we will talk about the whole universe from a basic cosmological point of view. Basic knowledge in mathematics and physics is helpful but all students are welcome.
