This course will be taught in classroom lectures, open discussion, reading and writing assignments on topics related to sustainable agriculture. Each student will be assigned 1 or 2 topics, which will be related mostly to scientific aspects of sustainability, however, it will also include socioeconomic aspects of human population growth. Students will study their topics, discuss with the teacher, write a term paper and make a presentation in a seminar format. When feasible outside specialists will be invited to give a seminar on their idea of sustainability.  The object for this course is to stimulate students’ thinking on various aspects of the problem of sustainability of agricultural production to meet the demand for continued growth in the human population.
