      Dear All,
       
      Prepare for all 3 Qs; each Q for the length of 2 mins. While practicing, pay attention to:
       
      1. your argument & structure: if the points are stated in a sensible way, and supported by convincing details;
      2. English fluency: remember the key words/points, and try to express the ideas in different ways everytime you practice;
      and 3. pronunciation & grammar: consult   https://dictionary.cambridge.org/   to avoid pronunciation/grammar mistakes.

      Q1 Do you think nationals should be concerned about politics? Explain.
      Q2 How do you prepare yourself for the job market in the near future?
      Q3 How are the limited resources on Earth going to be distributed in a better way as the world population is getting bigger each day?
       
      Practice answering the Qs in front of a mirror, your family or friends until you can get rid of the notes.

        Dear All,
         
        Give a 5~10 mins. presentation on any topic of your interest. And follow the guidelines below when preparing:
         
        -- think about what may excite or interest your audience
        -- delete info unrelated to the topic
        -- organize the structure of your talk (= what should be said first, or later)
        -- include only key words, not long sentences, on each slide
        -- make eye contact with the audience
        -- practice and practice and practice!
         
        The presentation starts from 4/25 (1 speaker; 4/25 class starts at 8:30),
        then 5/2 (3 speakers; 5/2 class starts at 8:50),
        5/9 (3 speakers; 5/9 class starts at 8:50),
        5/16 (3 speakers; 5/16 class starts at 8:50),
        5/23 (3 speakers; 5/23 class starts at 8:50), 6/6 (7 speakers)
        and finally on 6/13 (7 speakers).

        p.123~126 on 4/11 or 4/18,
         
        p.127~130 on 5/9,
         
        and p.131~134 on 6/6 or 6/13 at the beginning of the class.
         
        Take notes of the deadlines.
         
        Delay is not acceptable.
         
        Submit all the 4 homework in separate pieces of paper plz.

          Evaluation--
          1. motivation & participation 40%
          2. quizzes/assignments 20%
          3. midterm & final exams 40%
          4. You are allowed to be absent for 6 hours at most for all reasons this semester:

          Being late for over 30 min/leaving 30 min early is seen as absenteeism.
          If you're absent for 7 hours, 7 points will be deducted from the semester score.
          If you're absent for 8 hours, 10 points will be deducted from the semester score.
          If you're absent for 9 hours, 15 points will be deducted from the semester score.
          If you're absent for 10 hours, 20 points will be deducted from the semester score, and so on.
