本課程概括介紹生物資訊學之基礎知識，並配合上機實際操作。教室內有示範用電腦一部，並提供無線網路，歡迎同學們自備筆記型電腦同步操作。課程內容分為五大部分:
- 生物資訊學網路資源簡介(文獻與生物巨分子資料庫、網路分析軟體)
- 核苷酸序列分析簡介與操作(網路資源)
- 胺基酸序列分析簡介與操作(網路資源)
- UNIX及Windows PowerShell操作系統簡介與基礎指令稿語言(scripting language)操作，常用電腦語言基礎(R，Python)
- 蛋白質結構分析簡介與操作
每一部份約二至四週的課程，使同學能充分了解所學內容，達到”所學即所用”的目標。
