課程介紹
Course Description
In this course students will read, discuss, and explore selected prose of various topics and styles in both written and video form. The selection covers widely in themes, such as humor, ethnicity, animals, and disability; and in prose patterns, such as biography, narration, description, and argumentation. Students will cultivate their sensitivity to the written and spoken words as well as increase their knowledge of the world.
 
Course Objectives
In this course students will learn to understand the issues brought up in the selected prose readings, and at the same time appreciate the way these selections (including selected video) present an event, a place, an idea, or an argument, etc. Through extensive reading, intensive discussion, and response paper writing, students will improve their presentation skills as well as broaden their intellectual horizon.

60% one presentation with written paper (in both file and hard copy) and PPT on the selected course topics or a topic from the textbook. 

40% Discussion and class participation. Plus quiz if necessary.

File for leave of abscence in the school system and upload make-up report within a week. Failure to do this will subject to deduction up to 5% each time.
