The purpose of this course is to introduce students to understand the current state of agricultural policy of nation and compare with ourselves then figure out what are the similarities and differences, thus we can make adjustments in it. High-tech and bio-chemical industries have surpassed the traditional industries and the agricultural industry decline the most. We will discuss the agricultural policy in terms of rational, content, and consequences in the class.
In addition, the nation-wide welfare policy of agriculture will be covered, as well as domestic nutrition policy, obesity and related health policy issues, European and other approaches to conservation and environmental, export expansion with subsidies and price guarantee policies, import and consumption subsidies, global warming and international approaches to policy, farmers’ social welfare system, the problem of income distribution and compensation, rural development policy, market equilibrium and social welfare.
